Douglas M. Murphy, M.D. is a member of Capitol Orthopedics and rehabilitation. He has been in practice since 1994. He has personally performed thousands of hip, knee, and shoulder replacements using a variety of systems and implants. He has been doing direct anterior, minimally invasive hip replacements almost exclusively since 2011, and is excited to bring the option of outpatient hip, knee, and shoulder replacement to Rockville Surgical Suites.
Dr. Murphy is currently the Chairman of the Surgery Department at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown. He was the inaugural president of the medical staff in 2014 when Holy Cross Hospital opened in Germantown.
Dr. Murphy currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Holy Cross Health and participates on the Finance and Mission and Population Health Committees.
Dr. Murphy lives in Rockville. when not working he can be found on the local tennis courts and coaching first base in the Rockville Boys Baseball league.
Dr Murphy also regularly participates in the “Ask the Doctor” informational lecture series at Holy Cross in Germantown.
